About Kessine

Kessine makes one product: a vitamin C serum built around three Australian native botanicals, made in Australia, for skin that has to deal with Australian conditions.

Why we made it

Most vitamin C serums are formulated for mild, overcast markets and shipped everywhere else. We started somewhere different. Kakadu Plum, Davidson Plum and Rosella all grow in some of the most sun-exposed country on earth, and all three are rich in antioxidants. There is a quiet logic to reaching for botanicals that come from the same kind of climate your skin has to handle.

The choices behind the formula

We use Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate rather than pure L-Ascorbic Acid. It is the more stable of the two, so the serum keeps its colour and clarity instead of turning amber on a bathroom shelf, and it is the gentler of the two on skin that reacts easily. It is a deliberate choice, not a cost decision.

The serum is fragrance-free, vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. We publish the full INCI ingredient list on the product page rather than summarising it, so you can check the entire formula before you buy rather than asking us for it.

What we do not claim

Kessine is a cosmetic product. We talk about how skin looks, not about treating, preventing or curing anything, and we do not make claims we cannot stand behind. Our serum is not a sunscreen and it is not a substitute for one. Nothing replaces proper sun protection, and sunscreen does that job.

Kessine was founded by Muhammad Y, who set out to build a vitamin C serum for Australian conditions rather than adapt one made for a milder climate. Kessine is a small, independent Australian business, and the person answering your email is the same person who chose what went into the bottle.
